Welcome to my little corner of blogland! This is the only sane spot I can come in my crazy life! :) Here I share my sometimes funny sometimes NOT-day to day insanity I call my life, along with my sweet wooly hubby & all our boys :)

Melzie's Miscellany

WELL its been a busy few days :) So I'll just do a little bullet type thingie to recap for you ;)

  • yesterday I went to Walmart to buy Hawger's bike. It was marked $69 and rang up $49! I'm alllllll about saving of the dough.
  • so we went and bought Lovey one also. even though his birthday isnt til June
  • And Wildchild got a bike too. so did we really save any dough?1 I think not LOL
  • Felt so lucky I went to get gas and bought a powerball ticket. ($200mil!, here's hoping!)

  • Decided to run to Sonic as it was lunchtime. Lovey (who is sick with strep and had been to the dr.) was with me but he just wanted a drink. So I got a very friendly Sonic-server-guy. I paid for me food and said "I have a question, what are the chances of me getting a free sample of something?" (cue in Lovey dying of embarassment here) He said "what were you wanting?" I said "well I am wanting to try one of those Java Chillers but I dont want to pay $2.49 if I dont even like it." SO he said he'd ask and see and left. Lovey was about to DIEEEEEEEE (lol) I said "Son, NEVER let me know if something embarasses you 'cause it makes my DAY" ;) So the guy brought me back a WHOLE pretty Java Chiller! I was so excited. So then to further embarass my precious little Lovey I chatted with my friendly server a bit more ;) I said " you see that camo painted truck over there? The guy driving it is wearing bright orange! Do you think he wants to be noticed in all that camo?" He just laughed and then I left. Lovey said they probably put esSPITto instead of espresso in my Java Chiller ;) I was highly impressed at Sonic's friendliness and willingness to let me try something before I buy it. And just to let you know...it was AWESOME!

  • We're supposedly having a big 'blizzard' comparable to the 'blizzard of '79'.
  • but its not even sticking in my yard LOL (so far)
  • I'm ready for Spring.

  • I start my new job Mon. and I am very nervous. Not so much about the job but about my ability to commit and stick with it.

  • I am very glad Danny Noriega was eliminated from AI last night, not so much for Luke Menard.
I am very shocked that Amanda Overmeyer is still in it. I was not surprised by the ones that went home.

  • I am TOTALLY shocked at Survivor last night! Joel should have stayed a lot longer, Ozzy seems very dumb this time. Cirie is sooooooo ruling the roost this time and I HATE it. I HATED last nights TC :( I do like it that the tribes are split up better this time. I cannnnnot BELIEVE Chet is still there. That 1st challenge was awesome last night LOL.

ok off to watch our "blizzard" xoxo melzie

PS I have tons of pics to share later but for now I am going to take advantage of a snow day and make my kids clean their rooms ;)

Close up of the man of steel ;)

Acckkk take me to your Lovey Leader LOL
I've got more pics to share later.
Hubby got a job! PRAISE GOD! And the starting money is more than we expected, and I think we are going to catch up and be ok :)
Wildchild is having blood pressure issues, they took him off his adhd meds and still high bp. So he has to STAY OFF HIS ADHD MEDS TIL JANUARY TIL HE SEES A CARDIOLOGIST. By then I'LL need some high bp meds also LOL.
Today is my middle sister's birthday..Happy Birthday M!
My baby sister called me this a.m. to tell me there was a murder/suicide across the street from her last night OYE! Scary stuff. no she doesnt live in a 'hood...she lives out in the BOONIES lol. Weird...
Survivor picks thus far-James #1, Todd he is such a playa schemer LOL.
Amazing Race- Too early to pick faves, I would have like to have seen that Ari and Stealla go farther they'd have been fun to watch. The Goths are fun to watch :) Me and my boys ROFL last night at those braying non-moving donkeys LOLOL that was HILARIOUS.
I guess I got booted from the "new" Q4P rings, at one time the rejection of a blog ring would have killed me...now I'll shrug and move on. I did get my sewing room almost cleaned out last night, and will finish it later today :)
50! Days til Christmas!

American Idol 5/15 Final 3-Survivor and Amazing race Finales also

Well being new to AI this season I had no idea what to expect. I did notice the lack of genre choice but this was neat to see. I think Jordin will be best served by winning AI. I think Melinda would be better off not winning whereas she would be able to have more control over her career. I can see her doing some serious contemporary gospel :) Blake will be recording something also its a given that they are all THREE winners at this point. Just that THE winner gets controlled by the producers right? Do I understand that correctly? :) I thought Jordin was just beautiful last night. I loved her outfits I loved her energy. Melinda was neat to see how comfortable she is now, even out of her "comfort zone". Blake well this many weeks of Blake is wearing a bit thin but I still like him :) He had fun last night and it showed. So what will the finale consist of? OH I didnt vote last night but my 13 yr old did, he like to FELL OUT when it was BLAKE'S VOICE thanking him for voting :) That was kewl.

SURVIVOR FINALE-
OMGOSH I cannot believe Dreamz went back on his word. Yau-man so would have won. Earl did not deserve to win, 2nd maybe but Yau was THE SURVIVOR this season. OH well lol. Cassandra well that was like a 3rd arm or something sitting up there lol. Survivor China looks intruiging, cant wait til September! Oh and if you've never done so GO TO CBS.COM and then to survivor and then to the blog-Survivor's strike back. FUNNIEST STUFF EVER. Almost better than watching the episodes :) Bob-dawg is da bomb. :)

AMAZING RACE-
Played out about like I thought it would when I saw the final 3. I would have liked Danny and Oswald in the final 3 but oh well. I wasnt pulling for the beauty queens or Eric and Danielle to win but I knew Charla and Mirna couldnt compete in a footrace so it was a given. I'm ready for new players, All-stars is fun to a point. But I want to pick and choose NEW teams to root for :)

Hope you all have a nice Wed. We went from 90 degrees yesterday to upper 60's today :) Very sunny and pretty after bad storms last night. xoxo melzie

American Idol 2/20/07 recap + Survivor & AR thoughts

OK this is my very first American Idol (AI) season and I am wondering why I missed all those years?! LOL The guys performed last night I took notes (cornball huh? hehe) and here are my opinions :D

RUDY-
-too many woo-ooo-oo's
-not cracy about his voice
-thin lips=ew lol
-horrible travolta style hip dancing

BRANDON-
-Good camera presence
-I am wondering if he isnt kind of limited in his talent, I havent heard him sound very versatile
-very disco type impression I get from him, which is NOT my style

SUNDANCE-
-I kinda feel this is his last chance
-his performance seemed forced to me
-I loved his original audition, I agreed with the judges on the bluesy first impression that has since gone flat

PAUL KIM-
-he was NOTHING like his audition tonight NOTHING :(
-DID NOT seem like it was coming naturally to him

FORGOT-TO-WRITE-HIS-NAME-DOWN-
-Loved his audition
-way too much bobbleheadedness in this, made his voice sound shaky
-too Eminem like performance the whole bopping up and down the entire time etc didnt do a thing for me at all

NICK-
-very cute!
-liked his husky audition, missed that here some
-seemed slumpy and slouchy (too relaxed? HA)

BLAKE-
-I hadnt had a real good impression of him from his audition but was more impressed tonight
-looks like a young Sting
-Reminds me of my first serious boyfriend LOL
-seems a very versatile singer
-good interaction on the stage and with the cameras

SANJAYA-
-loved him at first
-very feminine..
-gave off a very corny vibe tonight
-was he wearing lipstick?

CHRIS SLIGH
-well he had been my pick up til tonight I was NOT impressed with his interplay between he and simon
-seemed out of breath at the end, not a huge impression with him tonight

JARED
-very cute!
-weird finger thing going on
-nice song, made it his very well

AJ-
-YUCK
-upturned collar YUCK
-NOT NOT NOT

PHIL STACY
-OK my first thought was um ok, too muffled on the intro of the song, like bass gone bad on my stereo
-then the chorus OMGOSH this is the first one I could picture hearing on the radio
-BEST Of the night IMO

WHO'S GOING HOME IMO?
Sundance and Sanjaya.

MY FAVE THIS WEEK
Phil Stacy :)

SO Simon was a bit cranky tonight (I love you Simon!) But I thought IMO these were very unimpressive. NO ONE seemed to live up to their auditions. I am looking forward to hearing the women Wed. night.

AMAZING RACE ALL STARS
ROB ROB HOW DO I LOVE THEE? LET ME COUNT THE WAYS! Yes I love me some Bawston Rawb :D They got 1st woohoo! John Vito and Jill I loved their first time on but they were flat this time. I cant stand Charla and Mirna. Teri and Ian I loved to hate the first time :) Same it seems now. Guido's I can take or leave, Oz and Danny I dont think they are strong competitors. The blondes were tough last season. David and Mary I dont think will do real well they coasted on others' success last time. Eric and Danielle might do good, she wasnt a very strong competitor in her game I dont think. Uchenna and Joyce I LOVED their first time (she looks good bald, unlike Britney @@) I am looking forward to seeing Rawb win many roaming gnome trips ;)

its sunny and 60 here today and my laundry is all caught up. have a good hump day! xoxo melzie

Whew time is flying

Hubby took off several days last week and threw my schedule to heck :) I enjoy the time but its hard also.

We are gearing up for more cold here, and we have a chance of getting the tail end of the big snowstorm moving thru the north today. I hope it misses and we only get rain. I am so ready for SPRING :)

I am still feeling so much better though, bad weather or not. My house is clean, I am starting in on my sewing room. We got some bills paid off and I splurged and got a new tv :) Its a 27" flat screen. We were using a 19" old one with one speaker on the side that I got off of freecycle. I also splurged and turned my dish network (satellite) back on. I spent so much money last year on fabric and stuff, and I spend a couple hrs a month in there and its not family interactive. Me and the kids LOVE reality tv its something we love to do together and to discuss etc. So this year I wanted to get the new nicer tv :) And since we came back to Dish Network, we got the DVR and OMGOSH if you dont have DVR or TIVO or whatever GET IT its so cool. We also got the movie channels free for 3 mos. I am loving that too :) I watched War of the Worlds (cheesy but good!), Herbie Fully Loaded (adorable movie!) and we recorded Shaggy Dog with Tim Allen and Star Wars Ep. 3 havent watched those yet. And I am so so happy to get back to watching my favorites that we couldnt get with antenna, Deal or No Deal, Wife Swap, Supernanny, Joyce Meyer and recently watching John Hagee again. Hubby said THOSE ARE ALL NETWORK TV. well YAH they are but we couldnt get them before LOL. American Idol, this is my first season watching it, oh that Simon is such a cutie :) Survivor started last week, seemed fairly good. no one jumping out at me as a favorite yet but "Dreemz" is annoying, "Rocky" is so cliche. I am COUNTING THE HOURS TIL I SEE MY SWEET BOSTON ROB AGAIN on Amazing Race on the 18th! ::swoon:: Ok enough tv talk. Yall will think all I do is watch the boob tube LOL.

Well I need to get back to work, my sewing room getting done is my #1 goal today. that and I want to leave a comment on each Q4P blog today :) Have a great day! xoxo melzie

Playing catch up (or ketchup LOL)

First, some pictures :)

circa 1977! Found at my used bookstore, its sooooo cute and retro

And at $2 could not be passed up :) I am such a sucker for 1970's stuff :)

Next up a nifty new purse! My friend at church crocheted this for me!

Lined and all I am so tickled :)

Little mister Rowdyboy our last kitten who seems to have just taken up residence :)

And let me tell ya ROWDYBOY fits him to a TEE :)

Second, an apology! I went awol from my blog, I've been in such a slump. Not just sewing or blogging but an all over all around in general true FUNK. I am feeling better now :) God is good, he never gives up on me even in my slumpy funky times :)

Its flurrying snow today! Its cold cold I have to keep my washer going or it will freeze. I'm almost done with dirty clothes, then I will strip the beds. Then I dunno what LOL guess I'll call my friend and offer to do some of hers. Last really cold snap I just ran water thru occasionally.

Whats good to read these days? I went on about an 8 wk book fast from Nov til Jan 1 in order to read my Bible more, but since Jan 1 I've read and read and READ AND READ. I have some awesome books to recommend :) For true ROMANCE try out Josie Litton's series Dream of Me, Believe in Me and Come Back to Me. In the Christian fiction, really anything by Karen Kingsbury is TO BE READ IMMEDIATELY :) I've just finished the Redemption series (which leads to the Firstborn series) and the 9-11 series all by her. I mean CANNOT PUT DOWN BOOKS. CBS has links up to the new Survivor and Amazing Race seasons starting in Feb. I cannot wait! AR will be All-Stars and my SWEET SWEET ROB ::SWOON:: yay I cant wait.

Well I think thats all for now :) I'd love to hear some good book recommendations and any talk about the AR or Survivor seasons are welcomed here, except Rob bashing ;) Have a great day! xoxo melzie
