CRINOID FOSSILS!! They are the Missouri state fossil! They are formed from sea moss, apparently back when Missouri was covered by a warm sea (swamp?) these fossils are from then. |

Hematite! Hema-blood, Tite-rock. It leaves a brownish red smear when marked on a porcelain tile. Way cool! |

This was the COOLEST! Apparently these are only found in five places in the WORLD, Illinois being one. This is a pyrite dollar! Formed naturally, between layers of shale, so smashed into a super thin piece of fool's gold!

I LOVED MY CLASS! We got to pass around 10 different minerals, perform different experiments on them to figure out what they were. We took notes and did the experiments together, then got to take an open note quiz together as well. IT WAS AWESOME! I mean I did not feel like 3.5 hrs had passed AT ALL!!!!!!! I cannot wait to do more :D
