Welcome to my little corner of blogland! This is the only sane spot I can come in my crazy life! :) Here I share my sometimes funny sometimes NOT-day to day insanity I call my life, along with my sweet wooly hubby & all our boys :)

A couple people have said the orange is not fitting. What do you think? I am going to audition some fabrics for sashings later this week.

The orange ones are brighter than the others. But at least there are two of them to balance the design. =) You might try throwing them in a tea or coffee bath to dull them a little.

I wasn't going to comment at first but then I saw in bloglines that it was Melzie and she would want a truthful opinion. Remember, take it for what it is worth.

I think that the two orange ones are fine and they follow the pattern.

The ones that I am having a problem with are the three that don't have a neutral as the square pieces. I am talking about the yellow one in the top row and the pink ones in the second and third row. They just seem, out of place to me when you are thinking color value. If they had been the opposite way that would have been fine.

Hey there Melzie
I think the shoo fly blocks are just fine. I don't like to agonise over colour choices and find that something out of the ordinary can give the quilt a zing. Keep the fabrics you've used in mind when you're choosing the sashings and the border.
Well, that's my 10c worth ... hope you've had a great long weekend.
*hugs*

I like them! And I also like the idea of toning down the orange with a tea bath. You almost make me want to quilt!!

I like scrap quilts, and making them match too much takes away the charm. I think that you will be able to find a sashing fabric that helps blend all these colors together.

It's a scrap quilt. I'd leave them in, move them a 'little' further apart, and do what the other wise quilters have suggested and use border/sashing fabric to tie it all together. Or maybe orange cornerstones? Looks great - just go for it!
