Welcome to my little corner of blogland! This is the only sane spot I can come in my crazy life! :) Here I share my sometimes funny sometimes NOT-day to day insanity I call my life, along with my sweet wooly hubby & all our boys :)

She made every grandkid she had one of these. She appliqued everyone's name on theirs. (I am thinking she made this when I was two going by the centenial reference lol)

Somewhere I have some of the applique templates she had cut out of paper and paper bags.

This quilt is HEAVY :) I remember the weight of it as a child. I dont use it anymore, its hanging on my quilt rack at the end of my bed. Its straight out of the 70's its all polyester, or satiny there is not a SPECK of 100% cotton on it LOL. Probably why it lasted all those years! Here is the last pic, on each end is one strip of velvet. Both of them are coming apart. I LOVED to rub those when I was little.

And those are my memories for this monday! If you want to play along leave me a comment so I can come and visit and see :)

I would love to play along, but I will have to wait until the coming weekend. Hopefully I can remember. I'll have to dig some things out of the attic to photograph. I'll be in the attic anyway - putting away the red, white and blue summer decorations and getting out the autumn stuff.

What a lovely memory and how nice to have that quilt, especially with the date on it. Did she sign it? Can you fix the velvet seams?

ryn: I got my pattern at this site:

The only thing is, I changed it and made both the top and the bottom cover pieces with no flap thing in it, and then as I was zigzag sewing all around, once I got back near where I started, I put the liner inside (I sewed it first) and then sewed the whole thing shut, and then put a row of stitching around the liner, on the cover, to keep it from sliding around inside the cover. I used 8 layers of flannel in most of them, but 2 or 3 have 6 layers of flannel and 1 layer of towel, and then one has 5 layers of flannel and 2 layers of towel. The bigger ones I adaped the pattern for I made a bit thicker...2 layers of towel and 6 layers of flannel for the liner piece. Does this make sense?
